Most
backup accidents occur because the driver cannot see much of the
area behind the vehicle. This backup sensor system uses echo sonar
technology and rear bumper mounted sensors that detect obstacles
directly behind the vehicle. The distance of the obstacle(s) is
displayed through the LED display unit installed in front of the
driver. The bumper mounted sensors can detect objects through fog,
water, and smoke.
The system incorporates a beam signal that bounces off objects within
range of the sensors. The sensors detect non-moving and moving objects
and work in either daylight or night conditions, as well as rain.
Once an object is detected, the signal
is sent to the central processor unit, which calculates the distance
of the object. The distance is then displayed on the reverse activated
distancing sensor LED display unit.
The display unit should be mounted near the driver. The display
unit includes an audio alarm to alert the driver that the sensors
are detecting an object(s) behind the vehicle. It also has an ON/OFF
switch to mute the alarm if the driver chooses not to listen to
the alarm tone.
The
audio alarm tone triggers once an object is detected. As the vehicle
gets closer to the object, the "beeps" increase in intensity.
The bumper sensors can be painted to color match
your vehicle's bumper. To get maximum accuracy of distance readings
it is recommended to PAINT ONLY THE SENSOR CAP (see photos below).
Painting over the factory paint of the the sensor head may result
in false distance readings.
The backup sensor device is designed as a driver
assistance device. The device should not be relied upon solely as
a substitute for safe driving practices. At all times exercise caution
and safe driving practices when reversing any vehicle. At all times
look visually to ensure your path is clear. The manufacturer and
distributors of this backup assistance device do not guarantee or
assume liability for "collisions or damages" that take
place when backing up your vehicle.
